I wanted to give some props to other screenplay and script writing blogs.
The first one is Jane Espenson’s blog. She is Co-Executive Producer on Battlestar Galactica and a former writer for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She is credited with many other episodes on various shows.
This particular article talks about efficient script writing. A single stage direction can create and atmosphere to a scene without being too wordy. She sites a writer for Battlestar Galactica who has an amazing ability to write paragraphs in one sentence. Great stuff!
We could all learn from the artists out there.

Homework:
First off, check out the blog listed above.
Get a copy of a Battlestar Galactica script, read it, and see if you can find examples of lines that do much more than just give information about he scene. Identify lines that create a feeling or a mood to a scene.
I found some scripts from Battlestar Galactica. You can view it at this site.
Happy Writing.
P.S. More sites to come.
